This weekend I ended a 20 year relationship...

...with corrective lenses.

Yes, after many years of talking about getting LASIK I finally had my vision corrected.

The surgery went very well! In fact it was over before I really knew what was going on. After months of research, consultations and talking with friends the whole procedure lasted less than 10 minutes.

Here's a nice shot of me sleeping on the couch post-op, sporting my doctor-issued sunglasses.

I'm actually pretty surprised how fast I recovered. Within 24 hours I was driving again, and as of my one day checkup, I was seeing 20/20 out of my left eye and 20/15 out of my right. Awesome! I have just a little trouble focusing up close and with halos at night (both of which should go away in the next few weeks).

I'll let you know the long term effects, but I will say I'm pretty sure I won't miss my glasses and contact lenses.

I'm betting you're Tia Ana...

If anyone wants more details, feel free to e-mail me. The surgery was very expensive (I had to decide whether to see better or get a smaller butt), but there are ways to make the costs lower.

I took your uncle to the Lasix center to see if he qualified for surgery. Since this is personal. I just want to say that thanks to your posting, a miracle happened. You will not believe how important it is to share and encourage others to get well. Your cousins Carlos and William are thinking of getting it done as well. An look at Matt, whew ! So very happy he got it done too. I talked to Joannie and at the right time for her she will get it done too.
Keep us posted honey on how things are going for you.
We all ove you sweetheart.
